Jewel-Cross Bust Left ty. Penny, 1036. Double diadem./+NORDMAN ON LAEP, D is theta, AE liggated, Northman of Lewes. S1166,N808. This is the only one of Lewes in private hands of this Jewel cross bust left type, the other is recorded in the Royal Coin Cabinet, Stockholm. Part IV. Anglo-Saxon coins: Harold I and Harthacnut, Sylloge of Coins of the British Isles 40 (1991), coin no. 82. Interestingly both coins are overstruck on another(Harold I ?) coin, an Excessively-Rare coin with an interesting overstrike.
